Hello! Oh and a giveaway!

Hello! Welcome to my little corner of the internet! Is this blog not the cutest thing you have ever seen?! Yukari did a fantastic job with every single part of this design! I was incredibly vague and unsure of what I wanted this blog to look like, I told her a color scheme and a few things I enjoyed and my goodness LOOK!

When she sent me the initial banner prototype I was in professional development and squealed so loud that two people asked me what had happened. Whoops! But y'all I was THAT excited. I recommend Yukari whole heartedly. ;)

You are welcome to check out my about me, or just read the next paragraph! ha. I am a Seattle transplant to the Mississippi Delta. Yes, it is as much of a culture shock as it sounds! Not only that, but I am a Social Worker turned K/1st grade teacher and a Montessori/Waldorf enthusiast. I live in a small town of 1,800 people where everyone smiles, waves and says hello. I am not sure I will ever return to the big city after this! I have a small store on teachers pay teachers (that is about to get a face lift!) of supplies, specifically Montessori inspired products.

To celebrate my new blog I am going to run a small contest of sorts! I know so many people use rafflecopter but my goal is not to pull people into following my blog etc. I have been so blessed by TPT through the years and wanted to pass on the love through a $50 gift card!

So instead of a random drawing for you following my blog (or TPT or facebook!) I wanted to have those entering leave a comment about one or both of the following things:
  • What will you use your TPT gift card for and how will it change your teaching/classroom?
  • Why do you deserve this giftcard?
You are welcome to be as serious or funny as you wish! I will choose my top 5 favorite responses and then have a random drawing from there for a winter.

Now get to commenting!! Entries close on August 12th at 11:59 PM and a winner will be announced on August 14th!!

(Please make sure to include an email so I can contact you if you win!)

Come back tomorrow for my classroom reveal tour!!

  1. Your blog looks amazing! I love Yukari's designs. She is so talented and a sweetheart too! If I won a $50 gift card, I would probably use it to feed my clip art and font addiction. You can never have too many fonts!

Can't wait to follow along on your blogging journey!

  2. Your blog looks great! Yukari does some great work, and I am glad the kinder tribe is so supportive of each other!

If I were to win this giftcard, I would probably purchase some more clipart with kids of color- my students are all African American and rarely see kids who look like them on different resources. I'd also get center activities for literacy that are engaging, appropriate, and not all worksheets!

I'm very excited to follow along and see the great things that happen in your classroom!

  3. Love your new blog! I enjoyed reading your story too!
If I was to win the gift card I would use it for literacy and math centers. I would like to be able to change out the centers/small group activities more for the students. I would also like to get some stuff for guided reading and word work. I teach the below grade level reading class and am anxious to get my hands on anything I can to help them grasp reading better. 4. Love your new blog design and absolutely love the colors!!!!
If I were to win the gift card I would probably buy more things for guided reading. I teach on a military base. My students are constantly changing schools mid year and coming in on many different levels. Many students come in very behind. Anything to help my students with reading would be great!

  5. Oh Kelsey! Thank you so much for your sweet words! And thank you for taking a leap of faith with me and being my first official customer even though my portfolio is non-existent! I'm so glad that you love the design! If I won the TPT gift card I would buy this new resource I just found today! I always think that I am not the "funnest" teacher and would love to incorporate more songs and movement into my classroom! And I would get more font licences to continue to grow my TPT and blog design businesses :D

Love that you are montessori! We are strongly encouraged to take a Reggio approach in our province and I feel that Montessori aligns with that too!

  7. This blog looks great! I need to keep your designer in mind when I finally take the blog plunge!

If I were to win the gift card, I'd buy anything and everything for 3rd grade. I'm making a change from 5th to 3rd this year and I'm not sure my current resources are adaptable. I definitely need literacy materials/centers (we don't do centers in 5th). I'd also like to invest in clip art and font licenses to continue building my fledgling TpT store!

  8. I really love the design on your blog! If I won the gift card I would use it to expand my math and literacy centers! I would like to add activities like your sudoku puzzles or other thinking games that will be fun but also help develop those good thinking skills.

  9. I totally LOVE your new blog design! Yukari totally hit it out of the park! I would totally use a $50 TpT gift card to purchase amazing clip art that I would then use to create totally amazing products for a gazillion teachers to totally use in their classrooms, hence I would potentially reach gazillions of totally unsuspecting, but clip art inspired & dazzled students! Does this Valley Girl deserve to win this gift card? Totally, for sure! :oD

  11. I absolutely LOVE Waldorf schools!! When I have kids, I will be searching for a Waldorf school to put them in! I would love to teach at one also. :)

    1. I would use it to buy some fantastic differentiated reading activities (and mayyyyyybe a set of Melonheadz clip art as well ;) lol)
    2. I'm sure there are others more deserving of a $50 TpT gift card than me, but I would looooove one. I teach at a very small, rural school and we don't have a lot of resources, but we try our best! The gift card would allow me to gain additional resources for my classroom.

  12. I'm obsessed with Montessori as well, I just love that concept! I tried to Montessori up my centers as much as possible when I was in Preschool and Prek, unfortunately K in my school doesn't include center time any more (I know crazy right?!), so I'm trying to figure out how to incorporate that inquiry learning into the strict parameters that I'm given. If I won the TPT card I'd use it to expand some of our guided reading, writing, and math time to make it more exploratory. I know that this year I am spearheading our social studies curriculum and I am determined to make it all project based learning. I know that there are some great resources that I'd love to have and this gift card would really help.

Also, I love this blog design, Yukari did an amazing job!

  13. Since you are so generous to offer a gift card, I will shop at your store first.Montessori is very cool and I like to combine some traditional aspects of teaching with more contemporary methods and practices. The best of both worlds and balance are what I try to provide my elementary school students with.

A transplant from Seattle? I love the Northwest. You have also given me hope with your positivity concerning your new location in Mississippi. I am very anxious about a move we must eventually make in the near future-from the northeast to Florida. Hope I can adjust as well as you have!

Just one last thing...this blog is very eye-catching and inspiring. Good luck with it. I will come back to visit.

  14. What a beautiful blog...Congratulations!

What would I buy? I would buy the tnings I want that can't afford. I don't deserve it anymore than anyone else...Be sure to give to someone who deserves it.

    Thanks for thinking of us.

  15. Your blog looks incredible!

I would use the gift card to buy materials that I need for my classroom. I just switched grades (I was teaching 5th, now I am teaching Kindergarten!) The amount of things I need for my room are overwhelming... manipulatives, books, toys, etc. I hadn't realized the cost of teaching a younger grade until this summer when I realized all of the things that I need to purchase. I know that everyone on here deserves the gift card--- teachers spend tons of their own money on their students. I am sure whoever you pick will put it to great use.

Thanks for such a wonderful offer!

  18. Love the clean and sharp design of this blog! Congratulations!
I would use the TpT gift card to expand my repertoire of interesting ancient civilizations activities. With a big change in our ELA program this past year or so, I've had little time to devote to SS and feel badly that it's turned into a straight reading period rather than reading along with hands-on activities. This would make the learning about ancient civ stick a little more! With 3 kids in college, I don't have a lot of extra money for the things I'd like from other sellers ;)!! However, most people are on TpT to make extra money to make ends meet, it's likely everyone is deserving of a wonderful gift card! Thank you for this opportunity!

  22. I love your blog design! Nice and clean - very refreshing! I would use a TPT gift card to buy some math resources. With the switch to common core, my 5th graders are coming to me with so many gaps that need to be addressed. TpT has some fantastic activities (for all subjects)!. I deserve a gift card because I spend so much of my own money on my classroom. I do it because my students become "my" kids and I want the best for them! :)

  23. Hello! Thanks for offering this gift card. :) If I was the lucky winner, I would use the funds to buy the interactive notebooks and task cards that I think my 2nd graders would greatly benefit from! I have never used interactive notebooks before (last year was my first year teaching), but I'd love to try. I think all teachers would be equally worthy of getting this card and opportunity to help their students-- but it would be great for me because I'm a 2nd year teacher who's just trying to get their stuff together :P Anything helps! Ha.

  25. Love the blog design I'm going to have to check out your designer. I would love to have the TPT giftcard. I'm a speech path and I have my own store https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Store/Sarah-Wu-Speech-Is-Beautiful. I'd love to buy some more clip art to make more products for myself and my students. Thanks so much!! sarahwuSLP(AT)yahoo(DOT)com

  26. Your blog is so adorable! If I were to win the gift certificate I would use it to buy some math games and other resources to reach my special education students. I am constantly looking for new exciting activities that will engage them while they are learning. I deserve this gift card because I am a newer teacher finding out what works with my students by trial and error and that takes a lot of time and money-and this would be saving me both! Thank you so much for offering this giveaway! My email is kaitlyn.k.clark@gmail.com
